Smart tools
Smart tools are tools that are equipped with software, providing them with functions that otherwise would not have been possible. Smart tools not only provide greater ease of use, but prevent human error in the field and provide important insights into the bolting process.
What makes tools “smart”
The smartness of our tools can be divided into the following topics:
Programmable
Tools can be preset, significantly reducing wasted time and human error. The tool checks its own work and gives a notification if, for example, the set torque cannot be achieved. Typical of smart tools is that several steps, and thus procedures, can be introduced. As a result, the operator cannot do much other than operate the tool without error.
Data registration
Smart tools are often equipped with the ability to record and store relevant data. This data consists of the settings made, as well as information such as date and time, or values read from sensors. This automatically creates a log that can be used for analysis or serve as evidence.
Connectivity
To make entering settings and outputting recorded data easy and consistent, most smart tools can be connected to a computer. Think of a laptop, tablet or phone, as well as central digital production systems. The connection can be wired, but usually the tools are also equipped with wireless communication capabilities.

Examples of smart tools
A good example of smart tools is the HYTORC LST. This electric torque wrench was designed with smarts and connectivity in mind. The HYTORC LST can be configured not only using the built-in display, but also using the HYTORC Connect app. This app allows more complex configurations, such as angular rotation, to be set easily and remotely. Configurations can also be exchanged between different keys.
If data logging is enabled, data such as date and time of use, operator and torque set are logged and stored by the LST. This data can later be exported to serve as evidence of work well done. The data can also be used to analyze any problems.
In addition to smart wrenches, we also offer smart pumping systems such as the Vector and the Eco2TOUCH, measuring devices such as rotation sensors and bolt force measurement devices, and bolting software. In doing so, we are happy to help integrate our smart tools into your modern workplace.
