The Back-Up Wrench is easy to ‘suspend’ from the nut with a wing nut. This means that the operator does not need to have his/her hands in the vicinity of the bolt while the nut is being tightened. Also when loosening nuts tension cannot inadvertently be released from the Back-Up Wrench, causing it to fall from the nut. Simple but safe.
Place the Back-Up Wrench on the lock nut, then tighten the nut with a torque wrench and remove the Back-Up Wrench easily and safely from the lock nut. Because the tension is released mechanically no hammer is needed. A simple half a turn of the nut placed on the Back-Up Wrench is sufficient to release the tension. Safety and work speed increase dramatically when compared to an impact wrench, because it requires more time to put the impact wrench in position, to rotate it and then to try and dislodge it.
While tightening you can keep your hands away from the Back-Up Wrench and the tool, thereby eliminating the risk of pinching.
The mechanical Back-Up Wrench is available with interchangeable wrench widths from 36 mm to 95 mm (max. 9,500 Nm).
